Does the bible IMPLY no extraterrestrial life?

As most of the posts so far have focused on the whole alien/ET thing, let's ask an obvious question.  What does the bible say about life on other planets?  Most people will say it is silent, but I think without coming right out and saying it, it does imply that there is not life on other planets.  Let's look at some verses.

Genesis 1:14-18
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Psalm 19:1-10
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. 3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,  their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. 5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Romans 1:18-25
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.  21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

I think these speak for themselves, but let's take a look.

The lights (stars/planets) in the sky are there to mark seasons and help astronomically (directions).  The sun and moon are for light to the earth and to separate the light from the dark.  The heavens declare the majesty of God - what a sight it is!  That is their purpose.  It does not say they are there for any other of God's creations.

Ephesians mentions what we are truly at war with - among other things, THE SPIRITUAL FORCES OF EVIL IN THE HEAVENLY REALMS.  Now I will grant you, this is somewhat working in reverse.  It doesn't say there is NOT life out there, but it doesn't say there is, which would be a pretty important point to skip over, don't you think?  On top of that, it DOES say that there are evil things up there.

I find the Romans verses very interesting as well.  People that can't look at that universe and see there is a God behind all of it have no excuse - they should see that.  Brief sidetrack:  I have a question - if the universe is constantly expanding to such a great degree, why can we still calculate times and exact star locations that could be done thousands of years ago?  Basically, why do Keplar's laws exist?  How can they still be true?  Things seem to be pretty stable up there, it seems...but moving on.  It mentions that people think they are so smart, ie there just HAS to be something out there, right?  What does God say?  Although they think they are smart, they are fools.  I find VERY interesting the list of things people have traded God for - images of BIRDS, ANIMALS, and REPTILES.  Now I don't know how much UFO/types of aliens you've read about, but there are supposed to be ones that look like birds, animals, and reptiles.  Coincidence?  I always thought that verse was a little odd, but after filtering it through the whole alien/ET lens, it certainly adds up differently than before.  Oh yeah, it also implies people worship these things.  That will happen soon enough, I believe.

So what's the conclusion?  Although there are no direct quotes saying one way or the other if there is life in outer space, I think there is circumstantial evidence that piles up that implies there is none out there.  Plus, I believe demons are a reasonable explanation to the whole UFO phenomenon.  The true purposes for the things above are given.  When you put it all together, at the very least, it doesn't sound unreasonable for this whole scenario to be plausible.

What do you think?  Am I reading too much into these verses?  Am I nuts?  LOL  Pray for wisdom.

  1. Hi John

Here is some verses that shed a lot of light on this. -

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
    Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

I'd say the important thing to do is get that profered armour on.

  2. Hi John,

We are the only world that fell in sin and the Nephilim and those that Satan had with him. I suppose God has posibly other beings other than the fallen angels and heavenly angels but there is no record given to substanuate it.

I am sure of this, Christ dwelling in you is an imperveous shield against all Nepnilim and Satan and the third of the angels he deceived and brought down. These are all spirit beings able to morph into about whatever they wish to appear as. But they can see when Christ is dwelling within and they know to stay away for,

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

We must be totally given and surrendered to Him to have His indwelling I'm sure you are aware. We can then know and say in our hearts, "I have no fear of them because Jesus is here in my heart dwelling in me".
